Class 395 'Javelin'

The Class 395 is a dual-voltage EMU, designed to run at high speeds of up to 140mph on the HS1 route and up to 100mph on conventional tracks on the Southeastern network. The 6-car sets were introduced as part of the bit for the 2012 Olympics and earned the “Olympic Javelin Shuttle” moniker, with “Javelin” sticking as a nickname. The units are based on Hitachi’s “A-Train” design and led the way for future A-Train style units such as the Class 800 IEP.
