4-6-0 Class S15 LSWR Profile and Models

4-6-0 Class S15 LSWR

No. 834 at Feltham Locomotive Depot in September 1947. © Ben Brooksbank

The S15 class locomotives were originally produced for the London & South Western Railway and designed by Robert W Urie. They were designed to haul freight trains to the south coast ports and further west to Exeter, as well as work occasional passenger services. Following the amalgamation of the LSWR into the Southern Railway, further examples of the class were built. The fleet survived late into BR operations, with the last locos bowing out in 1966.
