Class 22 'Baby Warship' Profile and Models

The British Rail Class 22, otherwise known as the "Baby Warship" was a class of diesel-hydraulic locomotives designed for the BR's Western Region and built by the North British Locomotive company. They earned their nickname due to their similarity in appearance and internal equipment to the larger Class 41 'Warship'. The class were intended for use on a variety of local passenger and freight workings but were quickly displaced onto secondary duties due to initial reliability issues and the availability of more powerful traction. They eventually settled into reliable sevice, with availability over 85%. The entirety of the class was scrapped by the end of 1972.
