The LMS Fowler Class 3F 0-6-0T (often referred to as the Jinty) represented the ultimate development of the Midland Railway's six-coupled tank engines. Several hundred of the class were built at a variety of manufacturers and were just one of the Midland designs employed on an ongoing basis by the LMS. The class were renowned for their performance and thanks to being produced in large numbers, they lasted until the end of steam on British Rail and several have made it into preservation.
