The D9 was first Unveiled in 1958. the 30ft body seated 72 and was of advanced design, as were of its mechanical features. Production spanned 1960-66, by which time 345 buses had been built. 6299 HA, Fleet number 5299 is represented in the livery of the mid-70s, when Midland Red had adopted the corporate paint scheme of the National Bus Company, which had taken Midland Red into its fold in 1968. this stricking scheme suited the D9 well, many of which (including 5299) were operated in the Leicester area, some right up to the close of the decade.
