Product Description

Limited edition of 850

67005, works number 968742-5, was completed in October 1999 and shipped to the United Kingdom aboard the MV 'Arktis Meridian' which docked at Newport, South Wales on 19th February 2000. Offloaded two days later 67005 was first sent to Cardiff Canton depot before entering service on the National Network.

The loco was selected for naming in early December and on the 6th, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth named the loco "Queen's Messenger" at London Euston prior to working the Royal Train to Newcastle. The name is part of a Royal Mail theme for the early build Class 67's and the nameplate is of the standard style for Class 67's and was manufactured by Pro Cast.

67005 can now be found operating across the national network primarily on mail trains but the Class also now has duties that also encompass private charters and sleeping car trains in Scotland. The fitment of swing-head couplers and slow speed control as standard to the Class does not preclude operation on freight trains either.
