Whippet Coaches was founded in 1919 by Henry Lee using a converted American ambulance with a Ford Model T chasis.

The company grew, and after the 1939-1945 war Henry's three sons took over and formed a Limited Company in 1953 when Henry retired.

Today, the third generation of the Lee family has entered into the Fenstanton based business. Still a family concern, there are over 50 vehicles of various types in the fleet, serving routes which cover a wide part of Cambridge. The fleet consists of double deck and single deck serbvice buses, as well as luxury coaches for hire.
