Metroline was formed in 1989 as a subsidiary of London Buses. In 1994, the Company becamse a Management and Employee Buyout and in 1997, it became a 'plc' after floating on the London Stock Exchange. In March 2000, Metroline became part of the Singapore based DelGro Corporation, a transport company that operates in Singapore and in parts of China. Metroline currently runs a fleet of nearly 1,000 vehicles on over 80 routes and employs nearly 3,000 staff. TPL 259 is one of a batch of 33 10.5 metre Dennis Tridents with Plaxton President bodywork delivered to Metroline in early 2002. This particular batch were split between Routes 82 (North Finchley - Victoria) and 140 (Harrow Weald - Heathrow Airport). TPL 259 is representative of the vehicles that run on Route 82 from Potters Bar Garage. A Further batch of 27 similar vehicles were delivered later in 2002 and placed into service at Potters Bar and Holloway Garages. Subsequent deliveries have been of the shorter 10.1 metre version. In total the company will have a fleet of nearly 300 Dennis Tridents by Spring 2003.
