On a snowy winter's day in February 1996, the then West Midlands Travel unveiled its fleet of Heritage buses to the delight of enthusiasts and travelling public alike. Eleven MkII Metrobuses were outshopped in the liveries of old municipal fleets in the W.Midlands area. Allocated to the appropriate garage, they brought a touch of nostalgia back onto Midland roads - a few examples are still running. The Wolverhampton Corporation Transport example displays the city's long-lived green and cream livery which adorned the bus and trolleybus fleets. No. 2989, Reg. No. E989 VUK, is a late delivery MkII model which had already lost its MCW grille badge in favour of the WM logo when painted in 1996. The bus has subsequently visited many rallies often carrying its fleet number on the blind.
