Product Description

The STL was the standard London double-deck bus of the 1930's and 1940's and was based on an AEC Regent chassis. STL stood for Short Type Lengthened and it was superseded by the ST (Short Type) following an increase in the permitted length of a 4 wheel double decker in 1932. The STL went on to be built right through to 1946 using a variety of body builders. STL 2699 was part of the 1946 build of just 20 with Weymann bodies. All were sent to Watford and Luton to support Country area routes 321 and 351. Destined to be London's final STL's, the last of this batch was withdrawn from Hertford in May 1965. STL 2699 was one of the 10 bought by Dundee Corporation for further use.
