Belfast was the only municipal public transport operator in Ireland and commenced motorbus operations on 4th october 1926. trolleybuses began replacing the trams in 1938 and with over 200, became onem of the largest fleets in the British Isles. By far the most numerous bus chasis was Daimler and our Duple bodied example was one of a small number delivered in 1945. Additionally, in 1953, the Corporation bought 100 ex-London transport utilities to assist with the replacemnet of trams. these vehicles were rebodied by local firm Harkness during the 1960's and still retained Londen three letter registrations.
