First flying on the 9th March 1956 and remaining in service until September 1971, the B-52C retired from service after seeing combat in Southeast Asia. 54-2672 was one of the last B-52Cs in service (note 0-prefix denoting that the aircraft is over 10 years old) and served with the 7th Bomb Wing at Carswell AFB, Fort Worth. The tail emblem is that of the 2nd Air Force, which no longer exists; today the 7th BW has been incorporated into the 19th Air Division within the 8th Air Force. In November 1970 this aircraft visited McCoy AFB, Florida for the SAC bombing competition known as Giant Force
