Mr Malcolm Kettlewell started the business in 1960 hauling sand and gravel from his home in Baldersby, near Thirsk. New premises were purchased in 1973 at Station Depot, Melmerby, to accommodate the growth of the business to nine vehicles and the Company became Limited in the same year. The business expanded further in 1983 by building a warehouse complex of 26,000 square feet. Today, the Company has 25 wagons, used mainly for transporting animal feeds and the handling of 18-20,000 tonnes of sugar beet annually.
