The Swiss Air ForceGÇÖs national aerobatic team, GÇ£La Patrouille SuisseGÇ¥ (Swiss Patrol) was founded in 1964 and operated six smoke-equipped Hawker Hunter F.Mk.58s from Dubendorf Air Base. The team is not full-time, but flown by military pilots who are from the Surveillance Wing and usually train for the aerobatic team only once a week. There are 6 pilots and 1-2-reserve members. The leader chooses one of three different programmes, depending on the weather conditions, which lasts 16 minutes and only about 5-6 displays were undertaken each year. GÇ£Patrouille SuisseGÇ¥ made their UK debut at the International Air Tattoo at Greenham Common, Berkshire in July 1979 and have been regular participants ever since. They currently use Northrop F-5E Tigers.
