Under normal circumstances, Yelloways of Rochdale would buy heavyweight coaches of the AEC or Leyland marque, but the advent of the 52 seat Val by Bedford created interest in this Leyland engined coach albeit with only 400cc power. The 'Chinese Six' layout gave a smooth ride though noise levels at the front of the vehicle could be somewhat load! Whilst purchased for shorter routes, these coaches could often be seen on the Cambridge service as well as North wales and Lancashire coact workings. They were comfortably appointed with less than the maximum number of seats possible. As with many lightweights, they did not stay long with the Company but did find willing buyers after their Yelloways service was ended.
