Product Description

288 was delivered to Southdown in April 1966, one of the first of its batch to arrive and spent its first six years at Worthing. After a short spell at Chichester, it spent therest of its career in East Sussex where most crew routes were to be found by the mid 70s. As the decade progressed, the NBC livery spread through the fleet, starting with som of the small adjustments on 288 here. Seen some time in 1974 heading for Brighton on the trunk route 12 from Eastbourne, 288 has an NBC fleetname on its traditional Southdown livery and all green doors. It also lost its Southdown radiator badge. Full NBC livery followed in 1975. Sold at the end of 1978, 288 subsequently joined the large fleet of Queen Marys providing staff transport for the British Shoe Corporation in Leicester. Withdrawn by them 6 years later, it's final disposal remains unkown.
