Heljan are producing a newly tooled model of the British Rail Class 27 locomotive in O gauge. Several variations are to be produced covering usage of the class from the 1960s through to the 1980s in different BR green and BR blue colour schemes. We expect these new models to arrive in stock during 2022.
Heljan's Class 27 will feature:
2770 - Unnumbered in BR green with small yellow panels - £509.15
2771 - 5370 in BR plain green with full yellow ends - weathered - £509.15
2772 - Unnumbered in BR green with full yellow ends and cream lining - £509.15
2773 - Unnumbered in BR blue - £509.15
2774 - Unnumbered in BR blue - £509.15
2775 - D5382 in BR two-tone green with small yellow panels - £509.15
2776 - D5389 in early BR blue with small yellow panels - £509.15
2777 - 27032 in BR blue with Highland Rail stag emblems - weathered - £509.15

A total of 69 Class 27 locomotives were produced by Birmingham RCW Co. between 1961 and 1962. Essentially a more powerful version of the Class 26, with a 1,250hp engine - the class was initially distributed across the Midland, North Eastern and Scottish regions. From the mid-1960s they were entirely concentrated in Scotland where they continued in both passenger and freight operations until 1987.
