Six variations of Heljan's Class 05 diesel shunter have now been discounted to the bargain price of just £195 each. Available in a wide range of liveries covering both the BR green and blue eras as well as usage by the NCB, CEGB and in later industrial condition, Heljan's model features a raft of separately fitted details, a detailed cab with flush glazing on the distinctive large cab windows. The 05s come fitted with a 21-pin digital socket, directional lighting and run smoothly thanks to a strong motor and heavy metal chassis. Low stocks of these models are available so don't miss your chance to get yourself a great O gauge bargain.
69 0-6-0 diesel-mechanical Class 05 shunters were built by the Hunslet Engine Company from 1955 to 1961 for use on the Eastern and Scottish regions of British Railways. Despite being given the Class no. 05, they never received TOPS classifications, apart from D2554, which received the number 05001 when at work on the Island Line on the Isle of Wight. The rest of the class were all withdrawn by the end of 1968 and replaced with the Class 03 and 04 locomotives. Four Class 05s are current in preservation.
