Conflat container flat Profile and Models

Specialised wooden decked conflat wagons and accompanying containers were built in huge numbers during the Big Four era of Britain’s railways. They enabled door-to-door deliveries via road, rail, then road again, without the requirement for the goods to be handled at each leg. They were often used for furniture removal, although some were built with insulation for refrigerated used. British Rail built over 10,000 containers, which continued into service until the 1960s.
