Metro-Cammell produced six batches of Catfish (ZEV/ ZFV) wagons for British Rail between 1954 and 1961. They formed BR's standard fleet of ballast hoppers, along with the similar Dogfish wagons, and were fitted with vacuum brakes from new. Many lasted into the 1990s, with the last withdrawn by 2006.
