Hornby are producing three variations of the Class LN 'Lord Nelson' 4-6-0, originally produced by the Southern Railway and later used by the LNER and British Railways. Each one will feature a highly detailed body and cab and a TTS sound-fitted variation will be produced. The first variation is available now, showcasing No. 851 "Sir Francis Drake" in SR olive green.
The Lord Nelson class locomotives were intended for use on continental boat trains between London and Dover but were also later used for express passenger workings in the South West. 16 were built at SR's Eastleigh Works and they represented the most powerful 4-6-0 design of the Southern Railway. Only one example survived into preservation.
