Dapol are producing a newly tooled model of the EMD Class 59 in OO Gauge. The tooling will cater for all three sub-classes: 59/0, 59/1 and 59/2 - with accurate detailing such as correct headlights and more.
The Class 59 was the first US produced and privately owned diesel locomotive to operate regularly in the UK. The class was ordered for Foster Yeoman in the late 1980s, due to their dissatisfaction with the performance of the Class 56. Over time, more were orfered by ARC and National Power due to the success of the locomotives with Foster Yeoman.
These models are expected into stock in Q1 2019.
Painted Samples Showcased - 27/11/2018
At Warley 2018, Dapol showed us the decorated samples for all four of their highly anticipated Class 59 locomotives. These are early samples and Dapol advised that there are many amendments yet to be made, including the colours. These samples showcase the tooling variations for each subclass as well as the wealth of separate detailing parts fitted. Also shown off were the opening cab doors and rotating axleboxes.
