This past weekend (23 - 25 February), we attended the Model Rail Scotland exhibition at the Scottish Event Campus in Glasgow. The show is now one of the biggest celebrations of model railways in the UK and attracted thousands of visitors to check out a wide variety of fantastic layouts, exhibitors and more.
The event marked the first major exhibition that Hatton's have attended for some time and we were very excited to be there. It was a fantastic opportunity to showcase samples of our exclusive products and we very much enjoyed getting to meet our customers face to face and hear your feedback. We've come away with a lot of fantastic ideas and we're looking forward to meeting more of you at other shows this year, such as the London Festival of Railway Modelling, Guildex and Warley.
At our stand, visitors were able to explore a wide range of our exclusive products, with examples of our previous releases on show as well as a wide variety of samples for future projects - including 3D prints of our O Gauge Class A3 & A4 locomotives and OO Rail Head Treatment Train as well as first EPs and livery samples for other projects. Below is a full list of what was on display, click/ tap each project to find out more about it!
We spoke to hundreds of visitors across the three days of the show and received all kinds of ideas and feedback. We also got to hear some frankly incredible stories - including tales from an ex-military railway commander who used to deal with the "full size" versions of our warwell wagons and we even got to meet a gentleman who used to drive one of the Andrew Barclay locomotives that we are producing. We felt very lucky to hear such stories!
There were a staggering amount of layouts to explore at the show and the talent displayed was just phenomenal. A stand out for us was the 'Aberdeen Kirkhill' layout - a long T&RSD layout in OO depicting a wintry 80s Scotrail scene; this layout enabled us to display a couple of our beilhack snowploughs - surrounded by a nice dusting of snow!
We got a chance to explore most of the layouts on show - check them out in our photo gallery here.
