The Birmingham and Midland Motor Omnibus Co. Ltd., better known as Midland Red, was unique in that between 1923 and 1970, it designed and constructed most of its own vehicles. One such vehicle was the C5 coach, which was introduced in 1958. This 37 seat coach was based on the Midland Red's S15 dual purpose bus, but the striking front and rear ends disguised this fact.Only a very small number of retired Midland Red vehicles found further use with other operators, being unattractive propositions owing to the difficulty in obtaining spares. However, 819 HHA was taken on by Lichfield Speedway Supporters Club, to facilitate their desire to travel far and wide to attend speedway events. The livery reflects the colours of the Coventry 'Bees' Speedway Team of whom 'Ole' Olsen was a hero. The club obtained the coach in 1971, whin it had already clocked up half a million miles and they ran it for some ten years.
