Printrbot Simple Simple desktop 3D printer - 2014 Assembled model with aluminium print bed

The assembled Printrbot Simple is designed and built to be an entry to medium level model. It is a small machine but has a respectable 10cm3 build area. The wooden construction means it is both light and environmentally friendly.

It uses fully open source components and is used by many for GÇÿhackingGÇÖ (that is, taking the basic parts of the printer to create their own, usually larger, printer). This hacking process is actively encouraged by Printrbot founder Brook Drumm.

The recommended software to use on the Simple is the open source Repetier Host. This is fairly simple to use and includes the slicing software (either Slic3r or Skeinforge) to make this a one stop shop for your prints.

The Simple can be manually controlled from this software but there is no provision (at the moment) for running the machine without a connection to a PC or Mac.

This machine uses PLA, the most common material for home 3D printing.
