The deltics were at one time the racehorses of the East Coast Main Line, seen running at the front of most of the big express trains. D9007 was new to BR in June 1961 and was named 'Pinza' at the same time after a Derby winning racehorse. The deltics always had a big following with enthusiasts and this model features one of the main reasons they were so popular, its sound. The Deltics were fitted with two Napier Deltic power units and the sounds from these units were quite unlike anything on BR at the time. These sounds have been replicated for use on all DCC systems and bring this Deltic model to life. Other features include a centrally fitted motor driving all axles via carden shafts and flywheels.
