Product Description

'KESTREL' was a private venture by Brush, a division of Hawker Siddeley, and upon completion in 1967 was the worlds most powerful Sulzer loco @ 4000hp. By mid 1969 its bogies were exchanged for Class 47 examples and the weight reduction this gave enabled the loco to undertake passenger duties between Kings Cross & Newcastle. 'KESTREL' was withdrawn from service and shipped to Russia to attend an exhibition in July 1971. She was never to return, ending her days as a test bed, eventually being scrapped in the early 1990's.
