"The Talisman" as the successor to "The Coronation" which was cancelled due to the outbreak of the Second World War. Inaugurated on the 17 September 1956, "The Talisman" operated between London Kings Cross and Edinburgh Waverley on a twice daily service which, unsurprisingly, became known as the morning and afternoon Talismans. Although the Hornby train and coach packs are based on the early 1960s service, "The Talisman" continued well into the diesel era and can still be seen as a heritage railtours train (at the time of writing).
