Though Herbert Austin founded his company in 1908, it wasnGÇÖt until 1913 that the Austin Motor Company went into building trucks other than light commercials. It turned out to be a short-lived departure, and the company did not revert to truck-building until 1939, over the next six years producing large numbers for military service. After the merger with Morris in 1951, both marques seemed to lose their way in trucks, and the names disappeared as separate brands.
