AEC Q single deck bus - green (Civil Defence Mobile Gas Unit) "London Transport" RRP £26.00 BARGAIN This item has a limited edition certificate included. In 1932 there suddenly appeared on the London streets a revolutionary new design with a full front and seats in position where orthodox passenger vehicles had engines. An entirely new design of chasis was evolved by AEC at Southall, with the engine positioned on the offside frame member behind the front axle. After the success of the single deck Q with L.G.O.C. and provincial operators, the L.P.T.B. ordered 102 4Q4 type for the Country Area bus work which entered service throughout 1935. Although far ahead of its time, the Q Type was only in production for 4 years but it paved the way for the underfloor engined type so much in evidence today.
BXD 528, Q7 is featured in original prewar Country area livery with 37 seat bodywork by the Birmingham Railway Carriage & Wagon Company. It was allocated to Watford Garage and remained with L.P.T.B. until August 1953.

Leyland Titan PD3a/East Lancs "Accrington Corporation Transport" RRP £22.00 BARGAIN This item has a limited edition certificate included. The name East Lancashire Coachbuilders was first registered in October 1934 when the firm manufactured bodies for vans, lorries and small coaches. A major change took place in May 1938 when Alfred Alcock and George Danson moved from Massey Brothers to become directors of the Company. They brought their expertise in the building of larger buses, particularly double deckers. Metal framing was introduced from these early days and the firm became known as a major supplier to the municiple sector of the market. Since the decline of this market, the customer base has widened to embrace all types of operator including major groups, both at home and abroad.
Accrington Corporation commenced motor bus operation in 1928. The operator became known for its distinctive dark blue and red livery. In the postwar period Guy and Leyland chassis together with bodies by East Lancs predominated. The operator remained faithful to front engined chassis, taking a final batch of 4 in 1967, these being their first with front entrances.

Leyland Titan PD3/Queen Mary d/deck bus "Boroline" RRP £25.00 BARGAIN
Maidstone Corporation had a history which could be traced back over 90 years, having operated trams from 1904 until 1928. Trolleybuses then replaced them on two of the three routes, until closure in 1967. Motor buses were introduced in 1928. Crew operation had ceased in November 1976 with the withdrawal of Leyland PD2s. After deregulation in 1986 the Corporation owned bus company was facing more competition in its own operating area and saw an expansion into the London contract market as the answer. In mid 1987 contracts were gained for the 132, 228A/C, (later the 228, 328 and the 233) in the Eltham area as part of the Bexley scheme. A new, bold blue and yellow image was introduced in the sprint of 1990, so that Boro'line Maidstone buses were conspicuous among red buses as far away as Euston Station. Ex Southdown 'Queen Mary' BUF 278C was reregistered 217 UKL and given the fleetnumber 290 and used on British Rail contract work.
