Placing Orders
We need
When placing a second or subsequent time, you must still supply full details, as we do not store customer records on file.
Do not send the same order to us 2 or more times. e.g. An order by email with a copy by fax or in the post. This is likely to result in duplication of orders.
Payment
If paying by any card it is possible to order by telephone (between 8am and 6.00pm British time) on +44 (0)151-733-3655 - Monday to Saturday or between 10.00am and 4.00pm on Sundays
OR you may order by email (sales@hattons.co.uk) or fax (+44(0)151-734-4040) at any time
There are five methods of ordering items from this website :-
Postage
*
Most
Of UK
£4 per
Order.
Any size. Usual despatch within 24 hours.
* Northern Ireland, Isle Of Man, Scottish Highlands and Islands postage £5 per order. (POSTCODES AB,BT,JE,GY,IM,IV,KW,PA) We usually split larger orders to these places into two or more small parcels, as this is cheaper than sending them all in one. All the carriers now charge up to £30 to deliver a parcel over 2Kg to the above places.
Channel Islands & BFPO deduct 7/47th VAT, postage £5 per order.
As an option we can send a UK order by Royal Mail special delivery. This guarantees delivery by midday the next working day (Saturdays and Sundays don't count). This service is useful if delivery on a particular day is essential or is very urgent. Also Royal Mail have not as yet ever lost any of our parcels sent by us this method. The charge for this service is £7 providing the order weighs less than 2 Kg. Over 2Kg the charge is £16. Please check with us by telephone if you are unsure of the weight and wish to use this option. But as a general guide an average 00 scale locomotive weighs about half a Kg without packing , a coach a quarter Kg. A wagon a 1/7th kg. Complete electric trainsets several Kg. N gauge items apart from boxes of flexible track very little.
Overseas
Postage
Overseas customers Except those living in the European Union
countries, customers can deduct 7/47th VAT (tax) from the total
price (excluding printed material eg catalogues).
The rest of the world is charged at cost (please specify airmail or surface mail). As a Guide, Airmail cost is generally slightly greater than the VAT deduction (7/47ths), Surface mail is about half that, but catalogues are expensive to post as they are heavy and there is no VAT to deduct on them.
It is unfeasible to supply exact costings of how much delivery will be in advance of taking orders. That is why payment by credit card is much easier than paying by in advance by cheque or any other means.
Eurocheques are being withdrawn and we can no longer accept them as our bank now charges £7 to negotiate each one.
Separate despatch notes posted for non-Europe orders over £50.
UK orders are normally despatched by return by Royal Mail or Parcel Force and are delivered in a few days. Allowance should be made for postal delays beyond our control. With regard to foreign orders- these are despatched within 4 days by Parcel Force or Royal Mail . Orders sent via airmail are usually delivered within a week after despatch and surface mail sometimes takes up to 6 weeks but it is often much quicker than this as the post office sometimes forwards surface mail via airmail.
